WakeUP Wake County's Annual Reception

WakeUP is excited to invite you to our annual Member Reception coming up on Tuesday, January 23 at ArtSpace in downtown Raleigh.  The theme for this year’s event is “Thriving Communities: Connecting the Pieces” where we will host a panel of local experts in the areas of affordable housing, transportation, and environmental justice as they intersect for community development that is socially equitable, environmentally sustainable, and creates a community where all can thrive. 

As our area continues to see growth throughout the region, 2024 will be a big year for deciding the future of how we grow and its impacts on the long term viability of for residents, businesses, and our environment. With recent major investments into public transit, ongoing planning around affordable housing, and land use decisions happening regularly, connecting all these pieces is how we will create sustainable growth that allows our whole community to thrive.

We will be joined by Panelist:

• Morgan Mansa (Deputy Director of Affordable Housing, Wake County )
• George Jones  (Executive Director, Partners for Environmental Justice)
• Jennifer Truman (Chair, Raleigh Transit Authority)

In addition to our panel of experts, WakeUP looks forward to introducing our new Executive Director - kicking off a year that we hope is full of meaning conversation, inclusive dialogue, community engagement and problem-solving through tough decisions together.
