WakeUP News & Things to Know

Introducing Chris Herndon, our Interim Executive Director:

Chris joins us from United Way of the Triangle where he has worked as the Chief Operation Officer for the last few years. He will provide leadership and expertise through the end of the year as our permanent Executive Director search continues. Fun Fact: though much of his career has been in community engagement and advocacy, Chris has a degree in Sports Administration from Ball State University (David Letterman’s Alma Mater!).

We look forward to our time with Chris and seeing all we can accomplish together!

WakeUP celebrated World Car Free Day on September 22! In order to take action on increasing access to mobility options, we need to hear from you. Were you able to go the whole day without a car?  If not, where did you struggle?  Community planning takes community engagement and this is a great way to SpeakUP for our environment AND raise awareness for equity. Take the survey.

WakeUP is joining the Welcoming Neighbors Network as their network's newest associate member. We are excited to be a part of this amazing network of place-based organizations working to advance pro-housing policies. More to come on this!

Policy Analyst Christina Perella wrote a new blog post, Supporting health, safety, and quality of life improvements for residents
